National Formosa University Implementation Guidelines for Admission Excellence Scholarships

I. In order to encourage academically outstanding students to enroll at National Formosa University (hereinafter referred to as “the University”) and to enhance the overall quality of students, these guidelines are hereby established.

II. The University shall establish an “Admission Excellence Scholarship Review Committee” (hereinafter referred to as the Review Committee) to review matters related to admission excellence scholarships. The committee shall be composed of the Academic Affairs Director, Student Affairs Director, General Affairs Director, Research and Development Director, Secretary-General, Chief Accountant, the deans of each college, and one representative from each college’s departments/institutes. The Academic Affairs Director shall serve as the convener.

III. For academically outstanding doctoral and master’s students enrolling in the University, funding shall be allocated from the annual student scholarship budget. The principles and amounts are as follows:

1.    Those admitted to the University with outstanding admission performance.

2.    Those admitted (limited to regular admission) to other prestigious universities in the same year.

3.    Current graduating students of the University who rank within the top 50% of their class and are admitted (limited to regular admission) to the University shall be given priority for scholarships.

4.    Students receiving scholarships may not apply to defer enrollment.

5.    Eligibility, amount, and the definition of prestigious universities mentioned in Subparagraphs 1 and 2 shall be determined based on the annual scholarship budget allocation and reviewed by the Review Committee.

IV. For academically outstanding students admitted to undergraduate programs via application or joint distribution, scholarships shall be granted as follows:

1.    Application admission (for high school graduates): The Review Committee shall evaluate the student’s General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT) scores of the admission year and determine scholarship standards, quotas, and related conditions, subject to approval by the President before issuance.

2.    Joint distribution admission: The Review Committee shall evaluate the student’s joint distribution scores and preference ranking of the admission year and determine scholarship standards, quotas, and related conditions, subject to approval by the President before issuance.

3.    Other admission channels:

(1)These include recommendation and screening, technical talent selection (direct admission), special admission for outstanding athletes, and athlete recommendation-based admission.

(2)Applicants admitted based on winning bronze medal (or third place) or above in international skills competitions, international sports competitions, or International Olympiad competitions may be given priority for scholarships.

(3)For these admission channels, the Review Committee shall determine scholarship standards, quotas, and related conditions based on fairness and objectivity, subject to approval by the President before issuance.

4.    Eligibility for continued scholarship from the second semester onward requires the student to rank within the top ten of their class in the previous semester.

5.    Students receiving this scholarship who take a leave of absence or extend their study period shall have subsequent scholarship payments suspended.

V. Students receiving scholarships under these guidelines may, in accordance with relevant University regulations on exchange programs and overseas study opportunities, be given priority for selection and funding for overseas study. Relevant measures shall be formulated by the Office of Research and Development.

VI. To recognize academically outstanding students, scholarships under these guidelines shall, in principle, be awarded at university-wide or public ceremonies.

VII. To further encourage outstanding students to enroll, relevant University admissions units shall promote the scholarship measures through the University website, related websites, and media channels.

VIII. Scholarship amounts and implementation years for different academic programs and admission channels shall be determined by the Review Committee.

IX. Separate guidelines shall be established for scholarships for outstanding international students.

X. These guidelines shall be implemented upon approval by the Administrative Meeting and authorization by the President, and the same shall apply to any amendments.
